Biolamina’s human Laminin-511 was shown to support self-renewal of pluripotent human embryonic stem cells and iPS cells in a completely chemically defined and xeno-free environment for over five and two months, respectively. The article is published online in Nature Biotechnology. (Read more...)

The affinity of human stem cells to Laminin-511 is so high that the cells grow as monolayers, enabling equal contact of each cell to its biologically specific matrix and cell medium. Therefore, the cells are practically all pluripotent, which decreases the burden of cell handling and increasing reliability and repeatability of the results. Laminin protein family
Laminin-511 is one of 15 different laminin isoforms identified in different human tissues. These laminins are cell lineage specific and promote adhesion, differentiation, migration and survival. (Read more...)
Advantages with specific human recombinant laminins
- BIOLOGIC SPECIFICITY
We imitate the human embryo and tissues - therefore it works. Laminin-511 is the first extracellular protein expressed already in the 4 cell stage embryo. Different cell types require different laminins - BioLamina’s human recombinant laminins are new tools the cell biologist can use in differentiation experiments and for culturing different cell types.
- POSSIBILITIES FOR CELL THERAPY
BioLamina’s laminins are recombinant human proteins and are therefore defined. They can be manufactured according to cGMP and, therefore, can be accepted by regulatory authorities for purposes of human cell therapy.
- RELIABILITY
Over 97% pluripotency for over 5 months. Using another laminin for differentiation forces ES cells to differentiate or die, a prerequisite for clinical studies. All cells have equal contact with the matrix and medium because cells grow as monolayers.
- EASE OF USE
Coating of plates and passage of cells is simple as 1 2 3 (Read more...)
