BioLamina and Axion BioSystems partner to advance organoid research for disease modeling and therapeutic discovery

BioLamina, a leading provider of biologically relevant matrix proteins for stem cell culture, today announced a strategic collaboration with Axion BioSystems, a leader in next-generation live-cell analysis technologies.

Axion BioSystems will incorporate BioLamina’s full-length, human recombinant Biolaminin 332 LN (LN332), into a new offering designed to support the improved neural and cardiac organoid attachment to multielectrode array (MEA) plates.

“Pairing our Biolaminin technology with Axion BioSystems MEA plates allows researchers to quantitatively measure organoid function. We are thrilled to work with the team at Axion BioSystems to enable our partners to capture more meaningful data from complex models.”

Dr Therése Kallur, Chief Scientific & Business Development Officer at BioLamina

In Axion’s internal testing, Biolaminin 332 LN (LN332) supported sustained organoid attachment to 3DMap MEAs during long-term experiments, consistent with laminin-332’s established role in cell adhesion. Together, the new offering simplifies organoid preparation for MEA studies.

“Organoid research is advancing quickly, and the tools surrounding these models must evolve alongside it. By bringing together BioLamina’s solutions for improved organoid attachment with Axion’s functional analysis technologies, this partnership helps researchers gain more meaningful data from increasingly complex models.”

Dr Stacie Chvatal, Vice president of Product Management at Axion BioSystems

This new collaboration reflects a shared scientific commitment to creating the optimal cellular microenvironment for organoid attachment, enabling more robust functional analysis and advancing reproducible, scalable organoid workflows for disease modeling and therapeutic discovery.

The companies will jointly support the launch through coordinated marketing activities, scientific engagement, and conference collaborations throughout 2026.
